Matteen Terrany

Founding Board Member

Matteen Terrany has served on the Make Our Schools Safe board of directors since the organization’s founding in 2018.

He joined for a personal reason. Matteen and Dr. Ilan Alhadeff, who founded Make Our Schools Safe with his wife Lori, have been friends since childhood. When the Alhadeffs lost their daughter Alyssa in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018, Matteen set his own work aside to help build the organization that came out of that loss. His reasoning was simple: nothing is more important than our children.

In the earliest days, Matteen built the organization’s first website and funded it personally for five years — giving Make Our Schools Safe a national platform before it had the budget for one. Since then he has guided technology and digital strategy through the growth of the Alyssa’s Law campaign, now passed in thirteen states, and the expansion of MOSS Clubs into schools across the country.

Today he continues to serve as a technology and marketing advisor to the board and takes an active role in the organization’s decision-making.

A technology entrepreneur based in South Florida, Matteen is the founder and CEO of Matteen Labs. His career in technology began at Deutsche Bank in the late 1990s. He has mentored students with dyslexia and their families since 1996, drawing on his own diagnosis as a child. Matteen lives in Florida with his wife Jasmin and their two children.
