She talks about how she turned her anger into action after losing her 14-year-old daughter Alyssa during the Parkland school shooting in 2018, how she founded Make Our Schools Safe with her husband, a non-profit initiative dedicated to advocating for legislation across the U.S. that tightens security in classroom settings. Lori also goes over her involvement on the Broward County school board, the importance of the Alyssa’s Alert Act and the Safer Schools Act, and how integral it is for parents to be active participants in their local school district and fight for their children’s safety.
